Lauren Simons

Allied Health Assistant (level 2)

Lauren is available for early intervention supports, educational consultancy, transition supports and therapeutic skill building across southern Adelaide as a level 2 Allied Health Assistant. Lauren has been working in disability and special education roles for the last 10 years across mainstream, disability specific and alternate education programs. She is currently studying her Masters to become a fully qualified Developmental Educator.

Lauren has a special focus on supporting teenagers through their end of school transitions to supported employment, further education or alternate placements. She also has specialty skills across all stages of childhood in deaf/hard of hearing supports, including being proficient in Auslan. 

​

Lauren loves being able to work with a range of ages and provide advocacy supports that allows young people to meet their goals, build skills and give them the tools they need to advocate for themselves in the community. 

​

Lauren is also able to understand the impact of disability on families with lived experience and hearing loss in her immediate family. She uses Auslan and AAC with her own children and is also navigating family advocacy within the NDIS. 

​

Qualifications and Training Includes:

  • Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Arts

  • Currently studying her Masters of Disability Services (majoring in Deaf/Hard of Hearing)

  • Cert II Auslan (Deaf Connect)

  • Level II Auslan

  • SMART training (Strategies of Managing Abuse Related Trauma)

  • Certificate III in Group Fitness
